Text Box: Greetings: AHOY! Fall is here in force with all the activities it brings. New Auxiliary handbooks have been completed and are in hand. Huge thanks to Heather Shumaker and Sandy Wersal. No one understands the hours required until you are involved with the project. Thanks for St Cloud VA donations from: Verona Thompson, Dave Askelson, Greg Watzke, Don Anderson, Clinton Ihlang, and the Auxiliary sewers for six quilts. Thanks to Sue Anderson for boxes packed and shipped to local deployed soldiers. Halloween safety brochures will be given to every elementary (K-4) New London student. Tips to make the night safe while still fun are always good reminders and hopefully parents or grandparents will read them with their precious children. Veteran’s Day week is kicked off with a poppy bouquet provided to all local churches. November 9th is  the Veteran’s Day dinner (reservations should be called to post). Our Department President, Marsha Bible will be our guest. Her theme “A Celebration of Service” will be emphasized in a special Veteran’s Day program at the Little Theater. A movie highlighting World War II canteens will be shown at 1:00 and 7:00 pm, on November 11th, Veteran’s Day. Our unit has helped make the showing possible with the purchase of a screen for the theater. Veteran’s Day will also find us at the Glen Oaks Care Center where a special program will honor veteran’s past and present. Kindergarten students will be visited as they study “U” ( United States ). Legion members in uniform will demonstrate flag folding and a flag quiz is always a fun way for us to recognize what a great job teachers are doing instilling flag information, etiquette and honor. Each student will receive a flag and recite the pledge of allegiance to the flag. It is a busy week and I thank all our participating members who make it possible.
